Get water out of your phone speaker
Dropped it in water or got caught in the rain? This 165 Hz tone forces trapped water out of the speaker. Press play with the speaker facing down.
Max your volume, then press start. Place the speaker facing down.
How to eject water, step by step
- Remove the case and wipe the outside dry with a soft cloth.
- Set volume to ~90%. Loud enough to move the membrane, not painful.
- Face the speaker down over a cloth so gravity helps the water leave.
- Press play and let the full cycle run without touching the phone.
- Wipe and repeat 2–3 times until the sound is clear again.
What NOT to do
- Don't use a hair dryer or heat gun — heat damages seals and batteries.
- Don't charge a wet phone — it can short the port.
- Don't shake hard or insert cotton swabs — you push water deeper.
Frequently Asked Questions
What sound gets water out of a phone speaker?
A low-frequency tone around 150–165 Hz works best. At that pitch the speaker membrane moves with enough force to push water droplets up and out of the grille. Run it with the speaker facing down.
How long should I play the water-eject sound?
Start with a 15-second cycle, then repeat 2–3 times. If the sound is still muffled, wait a minute and run it again. Most water clears within the first few cycles.
My iPhone speaker is still muffled after water — what now?
Keep the phone speaker-down somewhere warm and dry for a few hours, then run the tone again. Avoid heat guns, hair dryers and charging while wet. If sound stays distorted after a day, contact support or Apple.
