Clean dust out of your speaker
Sound gone muffled or quiet on a dry phone? A high cleaning tone vibrates trapped dust and lint loose. Press play, then brush the grille.
Max your volume, then press start. Place the speaker facing down.
How to clean your speaker
- Remove the case and inspect the grille for visible lint.
- Press play on the Dust Clean tone above to vibrate debris loose.
- Brush gently with a soft, dry toothbrush in small circles.
- Lift residue with a piece of painter's tape or sticky putty pressed lightly on the grille.
- Repeat the tone and test your volume.
What NOT to do
- Don't poke pins or needles into the mesh — you can tear it.
- Don't blow compressed air directly in — it forces dust deeper.
- Don't use water or cleaning liquids on the grille.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can sound really clean dust out of a speaker?
Yes — a higher-frequency tone vibrates the speaker membrane quickly, which loosens fine dust, lint and pocket debris sitting on the grille so it can fall out. Pair it with a soft brush for best results.
What frequency cleans speaker dust best?
Mid-to-high tones between 1,000 and 3,000 Hz work well for shaking loose light debris. ECHO defaults to about 2,200 Hz in Dust Clean mode.
Why is my speaker quiet even though it is dry?
Dust and lint clogging the speaker mesh is the most common cause of muffled, quiet sound on a dry phone. Cleaning the grille with sound plus a soft brush usually restores full volume.
