How does Speaker Cleaner actually work?
The app generates calibrated sound frequencies — 165 Hz for water, 200 Hz for dust, and a full sweep from 20 Hz to 20 kHz for deep cleaning. These vibrations push moisture and particles out of the speaker grille. It's the same principle Apple Watch uses to eject water after swimming.
Will this damage my iPhone speaker?
No. The frequencies and amplitudes are calibrated to be safe for standard iPhone speakers under normal conditions. However, we strongly recommend removing AirPods or any in-ear devices before running a cleaning cycle through them — sustained tones at high volume can be uncomfortable or damaging to your hearing.
Why does the app need maximum volume?
The cleaning vibrations only work effectively at high volume — the speaker membrane needs significant amplitude to dislodge water and dust. The app shows a volume slider before each cleaning and asks you to raise it manually. You're always in control.
How long should a cleaning take?
Most water situations clear up in 30 seconds. Dust may take 1–2 cycles. For older or stubborn issues, you can enable Auto-cycles in Settings to run multiple sessions back-to-back with short pauses.
What's the Stereo Test tab for?
It plays distinct tones through the top (earpiece) and bottom (main) speakers separately, so you can hear if one channel is quieter or muffled. If so — run a cleaning targeted at that speaker.
What can I do in Manual mode?
Manual lets you dial in any frequency from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with a logarithmic slider, plus quick presets (Water, Dust, A4, 1 kHz, etc). Use it to experiment or target a specific resonant frequency for your situation.
Does the app collect or upload my data?
No. The app does not access your photos, contacts, microphone, location, or any other personal content. All sound generation runs locally on your device with AVAudioEngine. We only collect anonymous, aggregated analytics via Apple's App Analytics and subscription receipts via RevenueCat — see our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Open Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Speaker Cleaner, and tap Cancel. Your access stays active until the period ends. We never charge after cancellation.
I bought Lifetime — do I need to do anything?
No. Lifetime is a one-time purchase. Open the app, and Premium is active. If you reinstall later or switch devices, use Restore Purchases in Settings → Subscription to bring it back via your Apple ID.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. The cleaning sounds are generated entirely on-device. An internet connection is only needed to validate subscriptions with the App Store and sync state with our subscription provider on first launch.
Does it work on iPad or AirPods?
Speaker Cleaner is designed for iPhone speakers. It can run on iPad in iPhone-compatibility mode, but iPad speakers are designed differently. For AirPods cleaning, use higher-frequency settings in Manual mode (6 kHz – 9 kHz range) and never wear them in your ears during a cycle.
My speaker is still muffled after cleaning. What now?
If multiple cleaning sessions don't help, the issue may be more serious — debris stuck deep in the mesh, water damage to the speaker driver itself, or a faulty component. We recommend visiting an Apple Store or authorised service provider. Speaker Cleaner is a maintenance tool, not a substitute for professional repair.
